Its hard to believe that my little man is a year old. A little over a month ago this sweet boy who, for the most part, quietly goes with the flow of the crazy McAllister house celebrated a whole year with us. Not only does our little guy go with the flow, he does everything in his own way and timing and he is all boy.
First lets talk about teeth. While both babies started having teething episodes at about 3-4 months slugger didn't have teeth emerge until 11 months old as compared to sweet pea's 8 1/2. But he now has 4 front teeth with several more that look like they could appear any day. That's alot of work.
Next we'll talk mobility. at about 9 1/2 months sweet pea figured out the great movement that is crawling. Slugger... well he has been content just to sit. And sit, and sit. Tummy time has never been his thing. Putting him on his tummy has only ever resulted in rolling to his back. He took forever to finally sit unassisted. He was close to 9 1/2 or 10 months. Yet this little guy who marches to the beat of his own drummer, discovered scooting. Between 11 months and his birthday he just started using his ankles and hands to start pulling himself across the floor. At thirteen months he now goes everywhere at the speed of sound in this fashion. He chases balls, carries blocks or little people and he is off! For the time being, he is content with his toosh. He wants nothing to do with pulling himself up and will only stand when placed in said position at thge musical table and then for only 5 minutes. All of this has nothing to do with Sweet pea doing everything for him because she is too busy off doing her own thing.
Communication - We finally have babbling. Occasionally we get dadada or mamama. More consistenltly we get the signs for "milk" and sometimes "more".
Food - he is finally trying to learn to feed himself. O's, puffs, diced fruit, and chunks of banana are all a hit. He has also finally decided that holding a bottle for himself is okay as is drinking out of big boy cups.
ALL BOY!!! This guys likes everything that goes. if it is round or has wheels, this little guy is fascinated with it! Cars, trucks, tractors, balls of all shapes, sizes and colors. Daddy smiles!
It amazes me how different these two beautiful babies are. Sweet pea is 2 1/2 going on 30, talks non-stop, loves learning and playing. Slugger seems content being a baby and is in no hurry to grow up and you know what, Momma will enjoy it as long as it lasts.
