As a fan of sports in general and baseball in specific when a player is traded for "cash considerstions" what does that mean exactly? Why don't they call it what it is, he was sold. Period. That is what has happened to a good friend of mine, Shrek (aka Kevin Mench) was traded on May 9 from the Texas Rangers to the Toronto Blue Jays for cash considerations. Kevin has spent this season thus far playing for the Rangers' AAA minor league team. He has now made it back to the major league level playing left and right fields for the Blue Jays.
He has come back to the area this weekend for a series against the Phillies. Last night the Phillies whitewashed the Blue Jays. Kevin played only through the 3rd inning when he was injured making a catch against the outfield wall. He is listed as day to day. Hopefully he will be able to play today and the rest of the season.
