Blog Slackers...

Well, we are officially blog slackers. This is what happens when life unfolds. May has been crazy and it is over today. Let's see if we can catch you all up in a few minutes.

We celebrated Heather's first official mother's day. Last year we pseudo celebrated since she was mommy to Joey and we knew that we were expecting, but this year, Scott and Carolyn did things up right. Scott made dinner, our official celebration meal of Steak, potatoes, sauted mushrooms and onions and asparagus. Joey and Carolyn made a steeping stone for our from porch with hand/feet/paw prints.

On May 18 we had Carolyn baptized. So that we didn't have to choose between the two churches that Heather serves, especially since we couldn't and didn't want to choose we decided to have a third service. Between family and church folks there were about 40 persons in attendance. We had lunch and then the service. In the United Methodist church we have an understanding that baptism is initiation into the life of the church which is why it was so important to have the church folks there. Heather's DS (ie. supervising elder), Marlin Snider, came to perform the service. It was wonderful to have our parents and siblings there for the event.


Our new daily routine which has been pretty solid since the middle to end of April is: Carolyn wakes up between 7 and 8 am. We sometimes get morning and afternoon naps and sometimes not. Carolyn goes to bed between 8 and 9pm. She's been eating about 5 times a day for the last couple of weeks. Days with naps are definitely more fun than days without since when Carolyn doesn't nap she gets grumpy by 7 and we have to deal with bedtime feeding which she's not usually ready for until 8 or 8:30. Today is a grumpy day.

This has also been a few crazy weeks of getting ready to move. On May 14 Heather had to go to a meeting of all the pastors who are moving. Carolyn had woken up about 7 to eat while Heather was getting ready to go. When she left daddy and daughter were snuggled up sleeping.

Essentially since we announced on May 4 that we are moving, we have been living around an ever growing stack of boxes. This week Heather took a week off from work in order to spend some time packing and preparing for the move. Slowly the stack of empty boxes is getting smaller and the amount of things to pack is getting less and less. In one month we will be living in a new house and we will probably be living around stacks of boxes that need to be unpacked.

Last Sunday marked 4 months since Carolyn was born. She has been growing like a champ. She's chatty and smiley (except when she is tired). She still goes to work with mommy. At her 4 month check-up she was 12lbs 12 oz and 23 inches long. The doctor said she is in excellent health. She said, keep doing what we're doing and at some point in the next two months we'll start solids. Our practice's philosophy is closer to six months and when they consistently wake up in the middle of the night.

I guess that catches everybody up on the life and times of Joey's people. We'll ask in advance for forgiveness since the next month will be pretty crazy schedule-wise and with packing, unpacking and setting up the internet.
