Staring at empty space...

Carolyn has been asleep for going on two hours. Scott went to bed an hour ago since he has to leave for work at 5am. I'm sitting here staring at empty space in our family room. Let me explain...

We announced at the beginning of May that we were moving. Right about the same time we went to a local department store and ordered a new couch since we knew with the layout of the new parsonage we would need extra sitting furniture. This couch is awesome. It will be green (Scott's favorite color). It is faux suede. We paid the extra money to have it treated with teflon. The best part is that it is a regular couch with a sectional at one end that can be moved from one end to the other. After we ordered the couch we were told it would be here in 6-8 weeks. We asked what if it comes in 6 weeks, will you hold it until after our move. They said yes we said wonderful. We said will it be extra, they said no, we said great!!!. We leave as happy as larks, went home. Fast forward to July 12. The move has happened. We are getting settled in and we say, HMMM we haven't hear from Boscov's (the store where we ordered it). So while, out running errands, I stop in to talk to them about our couch. I'm thinking, maybe we did the bonehead thing of giving them our old phone number and not our cell phone and they can't get a hold of us. They called our order up in the computer and say, well no status update, we'll look into it and call you back on Monday, since its Saturday and our buying office is closed on weekends. No call. We call back on the 21st of July in the am, first thing when they open. So, so we'll look into it and call back later today. So later in the day the phone call back was... "Do you want the good news or the bad news?" UHHHH... I just want my couch. We'll its still coming, but the new ship date is August 18th. It might take a couple of days once its actually shipped to contact you to set up delivery. Berkline is having problems getting parts and this is what's caused the delay.

Fast forward to Monday AUGUST 25...

No couch, no call...

"Hmmm Scott, I wonder where our couch is."

So today I had Scott call when he got home from work. The wonderful sales guys says I'll look into it and call back.

He calls back about an hour later. Well the new update from Berkline is the end of September. What?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? So I calmly ask Shaun, the sales guy who said a month ago when we talked that they would give us more off the sale price, what are our options...
He's going to give us a little more off the price. Good news is... He seems just as perplexed as we are. He also said that if people were given a ship date already that it "might" come sooner... We'll let you know the first of October if we have a new couch.

In the meantime, we are living with a big whole in our family room that is just aching for a couch for snuggling and reading and tv/movie watching.

If there can be another positive, Joey loves running around in the empty space.

Who knew that moving into a new home could be so trying.
